Weekly Recap: Man with eight warrants arrested at Solano retail store
The man was spotted by an alert Walmart employee who recognized him from earlier suspected thefts at the store.

A man with eight outstanding warrants was arrested near the Walmart store in Vacaville on Wednesday.
The arrest happened after a Walmart employee spotted a man, later identified as 37-year-old Jamie Thomas, walking out of the store with a box full of merchandise. The employee recognized the man from earlier suspected thefts at the store, according to a statement released by the Vacaville Police Department.
Officers responded to the store and located the man and an accomplice, identified as 38-year-old Tamara Weaver, in a car near the business. Police say they located merchandise throughout the car that appeared to be stolen from other establishments.
A criminal records search on Thomas revealed eight outstanding misdemeanor warrants from other areas. He was arrested by police through those warrants and on suspicion of theft and drug offenses.
Weaver was arrested on suspicion of identity theft.

A fire that started in a creek bed and later spread to an apartment building in Vacaville is being treated as a possible case of arson. Fire crews were dispatched Monday afternoon to Putah Creek along Marshall Road after residents reported a fire in the creek bed. Within minutes, flames spread to a roof of a nearby apartment building. Police later detained a juvenile at a home nearby.
Police are investigating an apparent attempt to illegally enter Travis Air Force Base. Officers were dispatched to Markeley Lane in Fairfield after an eyewitness spotted a Ford F-150 pickup truck attempting to crash through a fence that borders the military installation. The driver was not located.
Two CHP officers are being credited with saving the life of a child. The officers were approached by a distraught parent near the Dixon Fruit Market on Tuesday evening. They helped revive a 7-year-old boy who was not breathing and had no pulse. The child is recovering at Vacaville’s Kaiser Permanente hospital.
California health officials gave approval to the County of Solano to move up on the state’s COVID-19 watchlist. The move means Solano County businesses are able to offer expanded indoor services with some restrictions. It also opens the door for schools to resume in-person instruction as early as mid-October.
The LNU Lightning Complex wildfire that devastated several communities, including rural Solano County, is expected to be fully contained by October 1, according to state fire officials.
