A Vallejo man was arrested last month in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old transient woman, the Vallejo Police Department announced in a press release on Wednesday.
Edward Holden, 31, was already in custody at the Solano County jail for an unrelated offense when detectives connected him to the November 2020 killing of 24-year-old Adrienne Florez, the agency said.
Florez died from a gunshot wound, police said. Her identity was not revealed when police asked the community for information leading to an arrest.
Detectives developed leads that allegedly connected Holden and his vehicle to the murder, authorities said on Wednesday.
“I am thankful for the detectives and their exceptional work in solving this murder case,” Shawny Williams, Vallejo’s police chief, said in a statement. “While this doesn't bring Ms. Florez back, we certainly hope solving this case brings solace to her family and friends.”
Williams renewed a promise made in November to “tenaciously pursue justice for all victims who have lost their lives to senseless acts of violence.”
The police department is still seeking additional information about Florez’s death and her connection to Holden. Those with information about Holden or Florez asked to call 1-707-648-4280.
