Solano County gets clearance to move to "orange" restriction tier

Eight counties in California will move into a less-restrictive coronavirus restriction tier this week, according to data published by state health officials on Tuesday.
Solano County is among the regions making a transition, with the county soon to be placed in the “orange” restriction tier, which will allow most businesses to increase their capacity and some — including bars — to re-open with modifications for the first time.
The move confirms a prediction made last week by Dr. Bela Matyas, the county’s top health officer, who said Solano County’s hospitalization and infection rates met state criteria for moving to the less-restrictive tier.
The transition into the orange tier allows indoor retailers to lift their capacity restrictions, though social distancing and face masks will still be required.
Churches, restaurants and movie theaters will be allowed to increase their indoor capacity from 25 percent to 50 percent, while gyms and fitness centers will be allowed to increase their indoor capacity from 10 percent to 25 percent.
Solano County will spend at least two weeks in the orange restriction tier before state health officials scrap the color-coded system in favor of a full re-opening of businesses and loosening of restrictions. That move is set to take place on June 15.
