Police in Dixon have identified a local man whose body was found at a Yolo County landfill on Tuesday.
In a press release issued Wednesday evening, a spokesperson identified the victim as Miguel Peñuelas, 28, of Dixon.
On Tuesday, police in Davis were called to the Yolo County Central Landfill after sanitation workers discovered a body inside a garbage truck. A preliminary information indicated the truck had picked up garbage in Dixon that day, and investigators from that city were called in.
Police eventually determined Peñuelas had crawled into a dumpster one hour before the truck arrived. It was not clear why Peñuelas was inside the dumpster.
A preliminary medical examination conducted by officials in Yolo County showed no signs of foul play, Dixon police said on Wednesday. The cause of death is believed to be accidental.
