Police in Dixon are investigating the circumstances of a body that was found at the Yolo County Central Landfill this week.
On Wednesday, the landfill called local police in Davis to report the discovery of a body after a garbage truck unloaded its load at the dump in the afternoon. A review of the truck’s route for the day indicated it had made pick-ups at several locations in Dixon, and that the body most likely originated there.
Davis police called their counterparts in Dixon, and a preliminary investigation determined the person had crawled into a dumpster one hour before the truck picked up that load.
Police in both cities are still investigating the matter, according to a city spokesperson in Dixon, but the death is being considered accidental due to the circumstances. A medical examination will be conducted by officials in Yolo County, the spokesperson said.
Anyone with information about what happened is asked to contact the Dixon Police Department at 707-678-7070.
