Forecasters have upgraded a previously-issued heat wave advisory to an Excessive Heat Warning, which is scheduled to take effect early Friday morning.
The advisory was upgraded in anticipation of unusually hot weather, with temperatures forecasted to land well above 100 degrees over the weekend.
The warning covers the majority of Solano County, except for the communities of Vallejo, Benicia and nearby rural areas.
The hottest temperatures are expected on Saturday and Sunday, forecasters said in a weather bulletin, before a period of cooler weather settles over interior Northern California next week.
Forecasters said those who are affected by the hot weather should consider re-scheduling outdoor activities, stay indoors whenever possible and drink plenty of fluids.
