Officials say fireworks are likely to blame for a fast-moving grass fire that threatened several homes in Vallejo on Monday.
The fire broke out around 9 p.m. in a hill adjacent to the Swanzy Reservoir near Navone Street.
The quick-moving blaze triggered evacuations for dozens of homes along Navone Street and nearby neighborhoods. While some Vallejo police officers carried out evacuation warnings, others grabbed firefighting equipment and battled the flames, keeping the fire from spreading to nearby homes until additional fire personnel could arrive on the scene.
Dozens of Vallejo firefighters were joined by their colleagues from across Solano County, with mutual aid received from Benicia, Cordelia, Crockett, Suisun City, Vacaville, Dixon and other areas.
One firefighter suffered an ankle injury and was treated by medical professionals on the scene, according to fire dispatches reviewed by Solano NewsNet.

The fire was declared under control around 10:30 p.m., with forward progress stopped. By that time, the fire had burned between 10 and 15 acres and caused property damage to 10 homes, according to a fire official.
It was the second fire in less than a week to send residents of Vallejo’s hillside neighborhoods scrambling for safety.
Last Tuesday, a fast-moving grass fire raced uphill toward several homes along Skyline Drive. The four-alarm fire caused property damage to six structures. Two of those structures sustained severe damage.
