The Fairfield Police Department has released surveillance video footage of a fatal shooting that took place in front of a convenience store earlier this month.
The video was released in tandem with a request for help from the public in identifying the driver of the vehicle whose identity remains unknown
Solano News Update was the first news organization to report on the October 15 shooting in front of a convenience store along the Horizon Drive.
Police dispatches reviewed by Solano News Update reveal the driver of a green, four-door Honda Civic-style vehicle asked a group of five individuals in front of the store if they were part of a gang. A brief argument ensued, and the driver of the car fired several shots toward the crowd.
One man, identified first by Solano News Update as 20-year-old Jose Cortes, was rushed to an area hospital with two gunshot wounds. He died from his injuries.
Police detained three men for questioning later that evening. They were released without charge and are not considered to be suspects.
On Friday, Fairfield officials released surveillance video from an adjacent business with the hope that someone might come forward with information leading to the identity of the driver involved.
Anyone who recognizes the vehicle or has information about the incident is asked to call Fairfield police at 707-428-7600.
