Vacaville police arrested three demonstrators following a rally in front of City Hall and the main headquarters of the Vacaville Police Department on Saturday.
The arrests appeared to stem from a number of incidents that occurred at the rally, including a scuffle and several confrontations between advocates of criminal justice reform and supporters of law enforcement.
In police dispatches reviewed by Solano News Update, officers said they were monitoring “the organizer” of the protest who was alleged to have grabbed a pro-law enforcement flag from police supporters at the rally.
In the dispatches, a police officer used the number “211” to describe the incident. The number correlates to the California penal code section for robbery.
The arrested protesters were later identified in Solano County booking logs at Jaquan Edwards-Harrison, Isaiah Robinson and Dalauna Knox. Edwards-Harrison was arrested following a scuffle on Lovers Lane near the police station, while the other two demonstrators were detained at the Vacaville Town Square.
All three were booked into Solano County jail on suspicion of felony robbery. Their bail ranged from $55,000 to $115,000. Knox was further charged with conspiracy, destroying evidence and being an accessory to a crime.
All criminal charges are merely accusations, and individuals are presumed innocent unless they are convicted in court.
Shortly after the arrest, a GoFundMe account was established by “Voices of VV,” a criminal justice reform group that has held numerous rallies at Andrews Park and the Vacaville Police Department over the summer. The account had raised more than $2,500 as of Sunday afternoon.
(Editors note: This story corrects a paragraph that erroneously said Knox was not charged in connection with her arrest in September 2020.)
