The mother of a missing teenager from Maine is speaking out after police say she disappeared from a group home and may be with a man from Vacaville.
In an emotional video, the mother of 15-year-old Lanie Nolan pleaded for her daughter’s return and begged Lanie to contact her parents and family so they know she’s safe.
“I’m videoing this in hopes you’ll see it,” Lanie’s mom said. “I love you so much, and your dad loves you so much, and your siblings love you so much. I don’t know why you’ve run away, and I don’t know where you are…we just know that we need you to come home, and we definitely — I definitely — need to know that you’re safe and need to know that you’re alive.”
Police say Lanie disappeared from a group home in Lewiston, Maine over the weekend after telling employees there that she was going for a walk. When she didn’t return, the group home’s employees called police, and her parents subsequently filed a missing person’s report.
In a bulletin first reported by Solano NewsNet on Monday, police said Lanie may have been picked up by a 23-year-old man from Vacaville with whom she’d been recently communicating with over social media.
Late Monday afternoon, Solano NewsNet learned the man worked as a security guard for a company based in Vallejo and has connections to the Placer County community of Foresthill. His last known residence was a home near the intersection of Nut Tree Road and Arcadia Drive in Vacaville. No one answered the door when an editor from Solano NewsNet visited the address Monday evening, but a neighbor said she recognized the man when shown an image from one of his social media profiles.
Solano NewsNet has chosen not to name the man in question because he has not been named a suspect by police and revealing his identity could jeopardize an ongoing investigation.
Lanie was described by authorities as a fair-complexioned white female standing 5-feet, 4-inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and was last seen wearing a brown sweatshirt, gray pants, sneakers and eyeglasses.
Anyone with information about Lanie's whereabouts or disappearance is asked to call detectives with the Lewiston Police Department at 207-784-6421.
