Police in Maine are asking for the public’s help in locating a teenager who may have left a youth shelter with a man from Vacaville.
On Monday, detectives with the Lewiston Police Department issued a public bulletin asking for information connected to the disappearance of 15-year-old Lanie Nolan of Oakland, Maine.
Nolan was last seen on March 18 at a youth shelter called New Beginnings. She reportedly told staff there that she was “going for a walk.” Staff called police around 4 p.m. when she failed to return from her walk.
Police later learned that she had been in touch with a 23-year-old man from Vacaville with whom she had been talking to over social media. Authorities didn’t explain how they came to learn this information, but said the man — who was not identified in a press release — possibly picked her up in a Blue 2001 Ford Mustang with California license plate 5-LQL-188.
It was not clear from the information provided by police if Lanie and the man are still believed to be in Maine or headed to Vacaville.
Lanie was described by authorities as a fair-complexioned white female standing 5-feet, 4-inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and was last seen wearing a brown sweatshirt, gray pants, sneakers and eyeglasses.
Anyone with information about Lanie's whereabouts or disappearance is asked to call detectives with the Lewiston Police Department at 207-784-6421.
