A wildland fire that is visible from parts of Vallejo poses no threat to public safety, according to the state’s firefighting agency.
In a press release issued by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), officials said the fire is burning on a remote island in the China Slough located in nearby Napa County.
“The fire is currently on a remote island and poses no threat to the surrounding area,” a fire official said. “At this time, there is no access to this fire due to it being on an island.”
The fire is in an area that has seen several similar ignitions over the last few days, according to a person familiar with the issue. A portion of the blaze was visible earlier this week when Solano NewsNet was assigned to cover a four-alarm grass fire happening around the same time in Vallejo.
CAL FIRE officials say they will be monitoring the fire “as it goes through its natural path of burning.”
