A teenager who was reported missing earlier this week has been found safe, and the 23-year-old man she was believed to be with is now in police custody, Solano NewsNet has learned.
Lanie Nolan, 15, and 23-year-old Taylor W. Hauke were spotted early Tuesday morning in Nebraska less than two days after police in Maine issued a bulletin for her disappearance.
The rescue and subsequent arrest was confirmed by two sources who were familiar with the incident, including a family member who had been briefed by law enforcement on the matter.
Police in Lewiston, Maine issued a missing persons bulletin via social media on Monday after Lanie failed to return to a youth shelter after telling staff she was going for a walk last Thursday.
Authorities later learned that Lanie had been in communicating with Hauke over social media, according to a police press release. Police did not reveal Hauke’s identity, but Solano NewsNet confirmed the 23-year-old security guard from Vacaville was the person of interest connected to the teen’s disappearance.
On Tuesday, the pair were spotted in North Platte, Nebraska hours after police confirmed they had requested assistance from federal investigators.
Hauke was arrested without incident, and authorities are working to reunite Lanie with her family.
