Police say a man who tried to rob a gas station customer in Fairfield was shot with his own gun during a struggle.
The incident happened Tuesday around 2:30 p.m. along the 1300 block of Travis Boulevard. There, police say 24-year-old Treshawn Loftin pointed a gun at a customer and tried to rob him of some jewelry.
The victim resisted and was able to take the gun away from Loftin during a struggle, police said. When Loftin refused to back down, the victim fired a single shot, injuring the would-be robber.
Loftin was able to flee the area in a vehicle and was later treated at an area hospital. The extent of the bullet wound was unknown, but the suspect is expected to make a recovery.
Police said Loftin was on active parole at the time of the incident and will be booked into the Solano County jail on numerous criminal charges, including being a felony in possession of a firearm and robbery.
