A woman says quick-responding Vacaville firefighters helped save the life of her newborn baby.
Last Saturday, Vacaville fire medics were dispatched to the home of Christy Adams after she suffered a placenta abruption.
A placenta abruption is a medical condition where the placenta separates from the uterus walls before the baby is born. The condition is rare, but it can be fatal to both the fetus and the mother without prompt medical attention.
Adams said the quick timing of Vacaville firefighters helped save her life and that of her miracle baby.
“If it wasn’t for you amazing men, both my son and I wouldn’t be here,” Adams wrote.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, a Vacaville Fire Department spokesperson said they were touched by the mother’s comments.
“This is why the men and women of the Vacaville Fire Department come to work,” the spokesperson wrote. “We are happy to hear that a potentially life-threatening situation turned out as (the) best case scenario.”
