Get ready for a windy day on Tuesday.
The National Weather Service says strong, gusty wind from the north and east will be present across the region, including all of Solano County.
The wind already started to pick up speed late Monday evening with gusts of up to 20 miles per hour reported in parts of Vacaville, according to a weather bulletin reviewed by Solano NewsNet.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service’s Sacramento office said wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour might be experienced in portions of Solano County between early Tuesday morning and mid-afternoon.
During the wind event, power outages are possible in some areas, and outdoor items that are not secured may cause damage to nearby items and buildings.
Although a wildfire watch had not been issued as of Monday evening, the danger from fast-moving, wind-whipped fires is possible throughout the area. At the start of the event on Monday, firefighters had their hands full with blazes breaking out in rural parts of Suisun City, Dixon, Fairfield and Vacaville.
The wind storm is expected to blow over by Tuesday evening, meteorologists say.
