A police pursuit that started near Fairfield wound through several Northern California communities before ending in an unusual place on Tuesday.
The incident started around 10:30 p.m. when California Highway Patrol officers spotted a vehicle wanted in connection with a felony warrant out of Hayward. Police surveilled the vehicle through Fairfield before attempting to pull it over along east-bound Interstate 80 near Airbase Parkway.
The driver took off, leading police on a high-speed pursuit that wound through North Solano and Yolo Counties.
Around 11 p.m., the driver exited in West Sacramento and led local police there on a brief chase around an industrial part of the city, including the parking lot of an Amazon warehouse, according to dispatches.
The chase eventually wound up on west-bound Interstate 80 where CHP officers and deputies with the Solano County Sheriff’s Office continued the pursuit.
Police in Dixon, Vacaville and Fairfield set up spike strips along several parts of the freeway, but the suspect successful maneuvered around them, dispatches revealed.
The chase wound through Vallejo before ending up in Contra Costa County. The driver exited Interstate 80 onto Highway 4, where the chase continued until the driver left the freeway for city streets in Martinez.
Just before midnight, the suspect pulled up in front of the Martinez Detention Facility where he surrendered to staff on site. The California Highway Patrol took him into custody a few moments later.
The suspect’s name was not available as of early Wednesday morning.
