The National Weather Service office in Sacramento says portions of north Solano County could experience strong thunderstorms with hail this afternoon.
In a special weather bulletin issued on Wednesday, meteorologists said Dixon, Winters and rural Solano and Yolo counties around those communities are in the path of storm cells that are capable of producing severe thunderstorms with gusty wind and pea-sized hail.
“Large amounts of small hail and heavy rainfall are possible with these storms, and may cause localized flooding and very slippery roads,” the bulletin said. “Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.”
Weather spotters in Woodland and Davis have already reported thunderstorms on Wednesday that caused small hail to fall in those communities. The storms are moving toward the east and are expected to deteriorate by the end of the day.
