Vallejo Police walk back claims of "active shooter," shelter-in-place order remains
The Vallejo Police Department walked back claims of an active shooter in the city on Wednesday, less than an hour after the county’s alert notification system issued a shelter in place for some neighborhoods.
The alert was sent around 3 p.m. and warned of an “active shooter” near the 400 block of Illinois Street. A message from Alert Solano urged residents to remain in their homes and instructed City of Vallejo field personnel to stay out of the area.
An update issued by the Vallejo Police Department confirmed there was law enforcement activity at a home in the neighborhood, but said there was “no active shooter in Vallejo,” contrary to the report issued by Alert Solano.
The police department affirmed a shelter-in-place order remains in effect for areas south of Nebraska Street, west of Broadway, north of Tennessee Street and east of Highway 29.
