The Vallejo Police Department is trying to figure out who left a package behind that drew the attention of a neighboring explosive ordinance team earlier this week.
On Wednesday, police responded to a report of a package that had been abandoned at a business along the 1200 block of Springs Road.
According to eyewitnesses, a woman was seen leaving a package behind in the parking lot of the business before driving off in a van.
That business and neighboring ones were evacuated while police worked to secure the scene. An explosive ordinance team from Napa County was brought in to help defuse the package.
Police say the package was designed to look like a bomb and had components inside that were intended to “rattle” when picked up. But the package wound up being harmless, and authorities now want to know why the woman left it there in the first place.
The person of interest is described as a white female, possibly in her 40s, who is around 5-feet, 7-inches tall and has short, blond hair. She was seen wearing a long black sweater and green pants.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Vallejo Police Department at 707-648-4496.
