Vallejo police investigate city's 9th homicide of year

The Vallejo Police Department says it has launched a homicide investigation after a shooting killed a 21-year-old man early Saturday morning.
The shooting happened around 12:15 a.m. near Maher Court and Admiral Callaghan Lane, a police spokesperson said in a press release issued Saturday afternoon.
Police officers were able to locate a crime scene associated with a shooting along the 100 block of Maher Court, the agency said. The victim’s name has not been released, but officials identified him as a 21-year-old resident of Oakland.

The police department says the fatality is the city’s ninth homicide of the year.
