Two people have been arrested on suspicion of carrying out a murder in Vallejo last year, the police department announced in an evening press release on Tuesday.
The pair were arrested in connection with the shooting death of Harold Leaks, 42, of Oakland last September, police said.
The two men were arrested at different times between late March and early May, according to information supplied by the agency on Tuesday.
Deante Reed, 22, of Richmond was arrested through a joint investigation between the Vallejo Police Department and the San Francisco Police Department’s S.W.A.T. team on March 24. In addition to the murder of Leaks, police say Reed was wanted in connection with another fatality in Richmond, though details about that incident were not provided.
Earlier this month, police carried out a second arrest, capturing 20-year-old David Barnett in connection with Leaks’ murder.
Leaks was found unresponsive on a sidewalk along the 200 block of Maine Street on September 2 of last year. Police initially withheld his information until the coroner was able to notify his family.
An initial press release issued by the Vallejo Police Department did not say if Leaks was wounded by gunfire.
Police are still investigating the circumstances of his death and are asking anyone with information about the murder to contact detectives at 707-651-7147.
