Vallejo city council candidate dies after sudden illness
A Vallejo city council candidate died this week after a sudden illness, Solano NewsNet has learned.
Andra Davis passed away on Thursday after falling ill earlier this week, according to a family friend who spoke with Solano NewsNet on Friday.
Davis had been bedridden for several days, the friend said. Her exact illness was not disclosed.
Davis was sworn in as Vallejo's human relations commissioner last year and was elected to the vice chair earlier this year. She was running for city council in District 4, where she said she hoped to improve relations between elected officials and the community.
On her campaign website, Davis detailed her early years of growing up in poverty, one that led her to drop out of high school. She turned her life around, graduating from California State University in Chico last year and becoming the first person in her family to earn a college degree.
Information about a funeral or remembrance ceremony was not immediately available.
