The Vacaville Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened near a learning center in downtown Vacaville.
The shooting happened around 10 a.m. near the intersection of Cernon Street and Mason Street.
Eyewitnesses told police the shooting started as a possible argument between two people. One gunshot was heard, and the individuals left the scene in separate cars.
Police later found the victim at an apartment complex on Elmira Street. He sustained a superficial wound that did not require medical treatment.
Dispatches reviewed by Solano NewsNet indicated police found damage to at least one vehicle parked behind the Heritage Peak Learning Center. The charter school was placed on a brief lockdown while officers processed the scene.
The suspect involved in the shooting, identified only as a local female, was detained by Fairfield Police at a gas station in that city about an hour later.
