A man who died after his motorcycle crashed in rural Solano County on Friday has been identified as 25-year-old Tyler Switzer of Vacaville.
Switzer was identified on Saturday in a social media post published by the Fairfield Police Officers Association, who said Switzer once volunteered as a police explorer in that city and nearby Vacaville.
Switzer was a graduate of Vanden High School and served in the Marine Corps for four years. He was preparing to become an airline pilot, according to a person who knew him.
The California Highway Patrol said Switzer was driving his motorcycle around 4:30 p.m. when he lost control of the bike and crashed. Just before the crash, Switzer was said to be speeding around 70 miles per hour.
Switzer died from injuries sustained in the crash. A friend who was riding with Switzer at the time of the incident was not injured.
