Firefighters with the Vacaville Fire Department will carry out a training burn on Callen Hill this week and part of next week, the agency said in a press release on Monday.
The planned burn will take place on Tuesday, May 17 and Thursday, May 19 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. A conclusion burn will take place next week on Friday, May 27.
The location of the burn will be along a grassy hillside north of East Monte Vista Avenue between Callen Street and Allison Drive.
The fire department says residents and motorists will likely see smoke columns coming from that area during the training exercise, with smoke visible from throughout the city as well as nearby Interstate 80 and Interstate 505. Anyone who is sensitive to smoke is encouraged to remain indoors during the burn.
No road closures will be in place during the training burn, fire officials said. The burn could be postponed based on wind and other weather factors.
