The Vacaville Fire Department is accepting donations for its annual Christmas fund with the goal of increasing its assistance to needy members of the community this year compared to last year.
This year’s drive is especially important because of the LNU Lightning Complex wildfire that tore through portions of rural Vacaville and other areas of Solano County in August, which left many local families homeless and others in great need.
The agency accepts funds around the holidays, with funds disbursed to needy members of the community around the year. Last year’s drive raised enough money to help 20 Vacaville seniors and families with grocery gift cards, a fire spokesperson said, and the agency is hoping to match and grow that assistance this year.
The Vacaville Christmas Fund is a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, meaning donors may receive certain tax benefits. Letters are mailed to those who donate to the fund, the agency said.
Those interested in donating to the Vacaville Christmas Fund are asked to drop off donations during normal business hours at:
Fire Department Administration Office
Vacaville City Hall
650 Merchant Street
Vacaville, California 95688
Donors who prefer to mail checks are asked to make them out to “Vacaville Christmas Fund,” then send them via postal mail to:

“The program can only make a difference through the support of the community,” a fire spokesperson said, adding that 100 percent of contributions “go to purchasing gift cards for people in need.”
