Oh yes, summer is definitely right around the corner.
The thermometer hit 90 degrees and above in some Solano County communities on Sunday, according to forecasters with the National Weather Service.
In Fairfield, a high temperature of 92 degrees was officially recorded by the weather agency, while Vacaville recorded a temperature of 90 degrees.
That was just a few degrees within record high temperatures for north Solano County (94 degrees in Fairfield; 93 degrees in Vacaville).
Weather forecasters say a lingering high pressure system is to blame for the warmer weather and is expected to remain over the region through Monday.
A light, breezy wind will cross through Solano County at the beginning of the week, which will help lower temperatures slightly, though forecasters say they will still remain in the 80s.
By Tuesday, a low pressure system is expected to come through, which will help bring temperatures down even more. Some areas of Northern California may even see a brief, light rain shower, though no precipitation is forecast for Solano County as of Sunday evening.
Meteorologists say another high pressure system will return to Northern California by the end of the week, which will help drive temperatures up about 10 degrees to 15 degrees above seasonal averages, so expect a return to the mid- to upper-80s by Thursday.
Preliminary forecast models say a rainstorm could cross through the area by next Sunday, though whether Solano County will experience any of that precipitation remains to be seen.
