A bear that roamed through a neighborhood in Vacaville on Monday has decided to end his visit and return home, according to wildlife officials.
The bear wandered back into the wilderness early Tuesday morning after spending at least a full day in the city.
Officers first received calls about a bear in the area on Sunday, according to a police spokesperson.
The bear was finally spotted by officers early Monday morning after residents reported the animal rummaging through yards. He was later seen climbing a tree near the campus of Willis Jepson Middle School before settling in the backyard of a home along North Orchard Street, where he remained for much of the day.
Police said the animal appeared to be a juvenile and that it was not abnormal to have the occasional bear sighting in Vacaville.
Early Tuesday morning, the bear decided he’d had enough of his adventure in the city and decided to return to his home in the wilderness.
