A motorcycle rider who was killed in a solo crash late Friday evening has been identified as a member of the Vacaville Fire Department, the agency confirmed this weekend.
The crash occurred around 10:20 p.m. along Vaca Valley Parkway near Hillcrest Circle. The incident drew a sizable police and firefighter response, with the California Highway Patrol taking over the investigation a short time later.
On Saturday, a Vacaville Fire official confirmed the identity of the rider as Bryden Nadasdy, a code enforcement technician with the agency. Nadasdy was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Police initially treated the location of the crash as a crime scene, and inquired with nearby residents about any surveillance video. A preliminary investigation indicates that Nadasdy was the only individual involved in the crash, and no other people or vehicles are being sought at this time, according to a person familiar with the case.
Nadasdy joined the Vacaville Fire Department in 2022.
“He served with the highest level of dedication and commitment, and his loss is deeply felt by the fire department, the City, and the community,” a spokesperson for the fire department said in a statement. “He is survived by his mother and brother. We extend our deepest sympathies to Bryden’s loved ones and join them in honoring his memory and contributions to the community.”
Counseling services and other forms of support are being provided to Vacaville fire and police personnel.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
It is the second death involving a public safety official for the City of Vacaville this week. On Thursday, motorcycle officer Matthew Bowen was struck and killed by a suspected DUI driver while conducting a traffic stop in the area of Leisure Town Road and Orange Drive. One person was arrested in connection with that crash.
