More than 1,300 Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) customers are without power in Fairfield, the utility reported Sunday evening.
The power glitch is not part of a planned electrical service shutoff that was announced earlier this weekend due to wildfire weather conditions. Instead, it appears to be related to electrical equipment damage caused by severe wind.
The blackout started around 8 p.m., according to information posted on PG&E’s website. Fire crews in Fairfield have been dispatched numerous times to reports of down power lines in the areas of Washington Street, Wyoming Street and other parts of the city.
PG&E says it is investigating the cause of the electrical outage and is unable to provide an estimated time of service restoration.
On Sunday, PG&E shut off service to more than 1,600 Solano County residents in rural portions of Vacaville, Fairfield, Cordelia and Winters as a wildfire-prevention measure. Those customers are expected to be without power until at least Monday evening but could be without service until as late as Tuesday evening.
