More than 2,300 Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) customers are without electrical services throughout Solano County due to unplanned disruptions in their service caused by equipment failures.
Utility crews responding to various wind-related outages have been pushed to the brink in Vallejo, Fairfield and other parts of the county.
The outages are in addition to more than 1,600 rural county customers who lost power due to a planned safety power shutoff, or PSPS, event that the utility invoked to prevent the start of wildfires during Red Flag weather conditions.
The bulk of the unplanned power outages are in Fairfield with more than 2,100 customers in the dark as of 1 a.m. Monday. PG&E officials told Fairfield fire crews that the estimated time of arrival for its personnel was between half an hour and one hour to respond to various reports of downed power lines in the city.
At least one incident of downed lines is suspected of starting a two-alarm fire at a trailer park along Circle Drive late Sunday morning. The fire burned three trailers and several nearby parked cars and triggered the evacuation of homes along an adjacent neighborhood. At least two residents were displaced by the blaze, according to firefighters on scene.
In Vallejo, hundreds of PG&E customers were in the dark due to a power failure between Tennessee Street and Benicia Road east of I-80. Power was restored in the area around 1 a.m., according to an outage map provided by PG&E on its website.
Other unplanned power outages include portions of Vallejo east of Columbus Parkway, rural Vacaville along Binghamton Drive and large parts of the Montezuma Slough, according to PG&E’s outage map.
