Two people were arrested in connection with a robbery involving an elderly victim at a Safeway grocery store in Vacaville earlier this month.
On March 4, the 81-year-old woman was shopping at the Safeway supermarket on Harbison Drive when she was robbed by a man who fled from the scene in a purple Scion XB.
Police broadcast the description of the car, which was erroneously described as a blue Toyota Scion, according to dispatches and a social media post reviewed by Solano NewsNet.
But the description was enough to help track down the vehicle in neighboring Fairfield the next morning, police said, and two individuals were taken into custody in connection with the robbery.
The suspects were identified as Emend Wilson, 25, of El Sobrante and 20-year-old Brittany Williams of Fairfield. They were booked into Solano County Jail on felony robbery, assault and firearms charges.
It was not clear why Vacaville police waited to announce the arrests until this week.
“We are continually grateful for the assistance we receive from our allied agencies, and for the extremely helpful information we received from original witnesses in the area,” a police spokesperson wrote on Facebook. “With support from community members like you, we can all work together to keep our community safe.”
The victim in the incident suffered a facial injury from a punch and lost a front tooth as a result of the alleged assault, police said.
