A man whose was found deceased in the garage of a Fairfield home on Tuesday has been identified as a local resident.
A police spokesperson confirmed the body of 56-year-old Sao Loa was located in the garage of a home along Willet Court on Tuesday.
As Solano NewsNet first reported, police went to the home while investigating a possible stabbing after a person walked into a local hospital with a puncture wound. That person, identified by police as 41-year-old Christopher Almendarez of Fairfield, was later arrested on suspicion of murder.
Another person, 34-year-old Sabrina Jo Banks of Fairfield, was also arrested by police on suspicion of being an accessory to Loa’s murder.
Eyewitnesses said a violent fight took place in the neighborhood where Lao’s body was found. Several vehicles were badly damaged, and neighbors told police the pair were armed with baseball bats at one point.
Officers later learned that one person involved in the fight may have been armed with an axe, though it was not clear if that person was the suspect arrested for murder or the victim whose body was found in the garage.
A police spokesperson said information about the weapons used in the attack, as well as the booking photos of those arrested for the crime, would not be released publicly.
“While this incident is extremely unfortunate, we do know that it was not random and those involved knew each other,” a police spokesperson said, adding that there were “no outstanding suspects in the case and no known threat to the community.”
