The California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) said a pair of ferries that shuttle commuters across the Cache Slough and Steamboat Slough were taken out of service due to mechanical issues on Tuesday.
The traffic notice was issued early morning after the Real McCoy II Ferry and the J-Mack Ferry were taken out of service due to mechanical issues.
The Real McCoy II Ferry is an extension of Highway 84 and shuttles commuters between the Rio Vista area and Ryer Island, while the J-Mack Ferry carries motorists between Ryer Island and Howard Landing along Highway 220.
A note on the CalTrans QuickMap website said the Real McCoy II Ferry was put back into service around noon, while the J-Mack Ferry is expected to be out of service until at least 6 p.m. CalTrans said motorists should use the Miner Slough Bridge along Highway 84 as a detour while the ferries were out.
