California transit officials are warning motorists of a freeway closure that could impact their drive through Fairfield this week.
The road work takes place between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night starting Monday evening along the east-bound lanes of Highway 12 at Red Top Road.
Affected lanes of the freeway will be closed each night for five straight nights, the California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) said in a social media post.
During the road work, drivers on east-bound Highway 12 will exit onto Red Top Road, then directed to the next set of Interstate 80 on-ramps.
The road work is part of an ongoing freeway improvement project to the Interstate 80 connector ramps that lead to Highway 12 and nearby Interstate 680.
This phase of the project is expected to wrap up early Saturday morning.
