A remote-controlled plane sparked a small grass fire that drew a police and firefighting response to a park in Vacaville on Monday.
The fire was reported around 8:30 p.m. when eyewitnesses alerted police to a potential arsonist at Peña Adobe Park.
According to preliminary information, eyewitnesses said a person was attempting to light several fields on fire while flying a remote control plane.
An arson investigation was initially launched, though police later said it appeared a small grass fire was sparked when the plane accidentally crashed into a vacant field that is regularly used by drone hobbyists.
No one was arrested or detained in connection with the incident, and it appeared police were leaning on the cause of the fire to be an accident.
