A thunderstorm that crossed through parts of north Solano County on Tuesday brought with it brief periods of heavy rain and even some hail.
The storm developed around 11 a.m. and triggered a downpour of hail in the Vacaville area.
A Solano NewsNet photographer who was covering a breaking news story in downtown Vacaville witnessed quarter-inch hail that fell for 5-10 minutes.
The hail accumulated on cars parked in front of businesses and caused slick conditions on surface streets and nearby Interstate 80.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service said thunderstorms are possible across the Sacramento region through the rest of the day.
The forecast agency issued a special weather statement just after 12:30 p.m. warning of another strong thunderstorm that was moving south.
Meteorologists say thunderstorms that develop will likely bring gusty wind and brief periods of heavy rain and hail.
