Suspicious device draws police to field near Dixon business

The Dixon Police Department is asking members of the public to stay away from the 1900 block of North Lincoln Street after a “suspicious device” was located in a field near a retail business on Thursday.
Around 1:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a local hunting store after someone associated with the business alerted the of the unusual device.
A police officer on the scene requested assistance through the Solano County Office of Emergency Services. It wasn’t clear if an explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) team was dispatched to the scene, though it is common in situations like this.
Around 2 p.m., county officials sent an emergency message through Alert Solano asking the public to avoid the area while the police activity was ongoing.
