Update: KCRA-TV in Sacramento reports the suspect involved in this week’s shooting spree and threat against the State Capitol was arrested by police Thursday afternoon. The original story appears below…
A Bay Area man wanted in connection with multiple shootings in the Sacramento area last night and for making threats against the State Capitol this morning has relatives in Solano County, Solano NewsNet has learned.
A review of public records and social media accounts for Jackson Pinney, 30, show the man has family connections throughout Northern California, including an immediate relative who currently lives in Vallejo.
Law enforcement officials throughout the state have been put on alert after Pinney allegedly opened fire multiple times in front of at least three public buildings in two suburban Sacramento communities.
Around 8:45 p.m., police in Citrus Heights received a 9-1-1 phone call from someone believed to be Pinney alerting them of a possible murder at or near an auto parts store. When police arrived, they didn’t find a victim, but they did locate several bullet holes in the walls of the business.
A short time later, police were called to a business north of the first shooting, where they found bullet holes near a propane tank. Minutes later, more emergency calls were made following a shooting near a hospital in Roseville.
No one was hurt in any of the three shootings, according to police. Eyewitnesses told officers they saw someone fleeing the scene in a gold-colored pick-up truck shortly after one of the incidents.
Early Thursday morning, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) evacuated the State Capitol in Sacramento after receiving a “credible threat” of a planned shooting there. Law enforcement linked the threat to Pinney and issued a state-wide lookout bulletin for the man.
Police say Pinney is believed to be driving a gold-colored Ford F-150 pick-up truck with California license plate 6-V04-299. The pick-up truck was captured on a public surveillance camera near one of the shooting scenes Wednesday evening.
Pinney listed the pick-up truck for sale on the website Facebook six weeks ago, according to a review of his social media account. Photographs posted to his Facebook page show him on board an airplane at the Sacramento International Airport last Sunday.
Law enforcement officials say Pinney also has a white 1996 Acura Integra registered in his name, and may have switched vehicles after the shootings. The vehicle has the California license plate 6-FWU-532.
Pinney is considered armed and dangerous. Police are asking the public to call 9-1-1 if they see him.
