The Suisun City Fire Department says it has responded to more calls for service this year compared to last, with more than 3,000 9-1-1 emergency calls logged by the end of November.
The calls for service include a record number of fire-related reports, the agency says, including reports of residential, commercial structure and grass fires.
The agency didn’t cite any particular cause for the increase in emergency-related calls, though firefighters were repeatedly called to extinguish grass fires that started near a homeless encampment near Sunset Avenue and Railroad Avenue over the summer, according to a review of dispatches by Solano News Update.
Suisun City firefighters also provided mutual assistance to other agencies during the LNU Lightning Complex wildfire in August, which burned in rural portions of the county near Vacaville, Fairfield and Winters.
“We embrace the opportunity to do the most with least and stand ready to serve Suisun City no matter the emergency,” an agency spokesperson said in a social media post on Wednesday.
In addition to fires, the Suisun City Fire Department responds to medical emergencies as well as calls related to boats in distress.
