A Suisun City man was arrested last month after police say he gave drugs to another person who later died from an overdose.
Jordan Smith, 20, was arrested on various drugs and firearms charges after local police executed a search warrant on his home, the Vacaville Police Department said in a statement on Thursday.
According to police, officers and fire medics were dispatched to the home of a 20-year-old victim who was found unresponsive. The person died from a suspected opiate overdose.
Detectives later connected the drugs to Smith, who became a suspect in the case.
A search warrant on Smith’s home turned up cash and firearms along with several illegal drugs, including counterfeit pills, police said.
Investigators say they’re still unable to determine if the victim ingested counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl or “legitimate oxycodone.”
“The Vacaville Police Department is aware of the significant impact that drug addiction can have on users, their families and society as a whole,” a police spokesperson wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday. “We encourage any individuals in need of assistance with narcotics addiction to seek out help.”
