Suisun City fire being investigated as arson

A mattress burning against a building sent a column of smoke that was widely visible in Suisun City on Friday.

The fire was reported around 12:45 p.m. behind a pizza restaurant along the 100 block of Sunset Avenue.

Fire crews arrived to find a burning mattress that was propped up against the side of the business. It was quickly extinguished within a matter of minutes.

Fire investigators believe the fire was deliberately set and have opened an arson investigation, Solano NewsNet has learned.

As of Friday afternoon, it was unclear if a suspect had been identified, and no one appeared to be in custody.
