A fatal stabbing inside a Fairfield home late last week was the result of a domestic violence incident in which the person who allegedly stabbed the victim was themselves the victim of abuse.
The individuals involved in the situation were in a relationship that was known to be violent, and the stabbing was an apparent act of self-defense, a police source with knowledge of the situation told Solano NewsNet on Monday.
A neighbor entered a town home along Manchester Lane late Friday evening after hearing a woman screaming inside the residence. They discovered a person suffering from a stab wound inside the home and called police.
One person was initially detained by police at the scene of the incident, but was later released after the full set of facts were learned. No one was in custody in connection with the death, and no one was expected to be arrested in the future, the source said.
Police will not release additional details about what happened due to the situation at hand.
