The number of active cases of the novel coronavirus in Solano County surpassed 2,000 on Thursday for the first time since the start of the health pandemic, according to a review of county health data by Solano News Update.
As of Thursday morning, the number of active cases in Solano County stood at 2,024, with more than 100 of those infected with COVID-19 hospitalized for serious symptoms, the data showed.
The figures reveal a startling upward trend of infections and hospitalizations in Solano County since state health officials began reporting a spike in positive cases starting in late October.
The state-wide increase in COVID-19 cases prompted state health officials to issue a new stay-at-home order that brought tougher restrictions in residents and businesses based on regional hospital data. Solano County was exempt from these restrictions until Wednesday. The tougher restrictions, which prohibit most travel and assembly that regulators have deemed “non-essential,” take effect in Solano County at 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
