Solano restaurants cited for violating COVID-19 health orders

At least 10 Solano County eateries received citations for allegedly violating requirements in state health orders that were issued during the ongoing coronavirus health pandemic, according to new data released by a state agency this week.
Out of those 10 restaurants, a total of four were located in Vacaville — the city with the highest number of restaurants that were caught violating certain elements of the state’s wide-ranging health and safety guidance for residents and businesses.
The data covers the period between July 2020 and late February 2021 and only includes restaurants or eateries that are licensed to serve alcohol. Since the data is limited to alcohol-serving establishments, the actual number of restaurants in Solano County issued citations by public health officials may be higher.
It was not immediately clear if the citations also earned each restaurant a fine, or if they were issued in some cases as a warning to correct certain operations.
The citations included one each against a pair of Chevy’s restaurants — one in Vallejo, the other in Fairfield — that drew local media attention after franchise managers decided to continue allowing indoor dining in January. At that time, restaurants like Chevy’s were limited to delivery and to-go orders only.
The other eight citations were issued in early July 2020 and were likely not the result of intentional non-compliance. Instead, it appeared they were establishments who were caught off guard by the state’s public health orders, which were constantly changing during the start of the pandemic.
The list of citations issued are as follows:

None of the 10 restaurants that were cited for public health order-related violations earned a second citation, at least within the time period reported by state officials.
