A vegetation fire in rural Vacaville drew a sizable firefighting presence from Solano County early Wednesday morning.
The fire was sparked by embers that were left over from an earlier controlled burn at a home along the 5700 block of Cherry Glen Road, according to dispatches reviewed by Solano NewsNet.
Around 1:30 a.m., a neighbor called firefighters with concerns that the embers could ignite a new fire.
When fire crews arrived, the embers had sparked a new fire in a gated portion of the property. Flames could be seen from nearby Interstate 80, according to eyewitnesses.
The owner of the property didn’t want to speak with Solano NewsNet on Wednesday. By the time a photographer arrived, the fire was under control.
The fire started during a significant wind event that was expected to worsen later Wednesday morning, according to forecasters. A Wind Advisory has been called for the hours of 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. when the wind is expected to be at its worst.
Wednesday morning’s fire broke out in an area that was affected by last August’s LNU Lightning Complex wildfire, which destroyed hundreds of homes in rural Solano County.
