A police chase that began with an investigation into a car doing donuts in a Vallejo intersection ended with an arrest and the seizure of several firearms.
The incident unfolded last Tuesday when a pair of Solano County Sheriff’s deputies parked along a Vallejo road “heard the old familiar sound of tires screeching” in the area, an agency spokesperson said.
The deputies witnessed a white sedan skidding its tires in a way that forced the vehicle to turn in a circle, a maneuver commonly referred to as a “donut.”
When the deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the sedan took off, triggering a short police chase. At one point, the car pulled over to the side of the road, and a passenger identified as 26-year-old Israel Sloan of Vallejo attempted to flee.
As he ran from deputies, Sloan allegedly attempted to dispose of an AR-15 style assault rifle and a handgun. Both were covered near the scene of the chase, and Sloan was eventually caught and taken into custody.
Sloan was booked into the Solano County Jail on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The vehicle pursuit was called off a short time later. Solano deputies say the driver of the car is still wanted. No description of the driver was offered by the agency on Monday.
