State health officials say Solano County can remain in a less-restrictive COVID-19 monitoring tier for at least another few weeks.
The decision came after the state modified Solano County’s case rate based on an increase in testing and certain other metrics.
County officials said they were worried an increase in COVID-19 infections might require it to move from the “red” monitoring tier to a more-restrictive “purple” monitoring tier, which would have caused some businesses to reduce their indoor operations.
The news was first reported Tuesday morning by the Fairfield-Suisun Daily Republic newspaper.
Keeping Solano County in the “red” monitoring tier will allow businesses like restaurants to continue offering indoor services at reduced capacity. School districts can also move forward with plans to offer in-person instruction with modified operations, though most of Solano County’s major school districts have tabeled any such decision until after the winter break.
The county moved into the “red” tier in late September.
