If you’re a gamer, you likely know how expensive it is to purchase games, especially highly-anticipated titles for the latest systems like the still-hard-to-find-for-some-reason PlayStation 5 and the handheld Nintendo Switch.
So it might be good to know that the Solano County Library offers hundreds of popular video game titles to rent for free — and all you need is a library card.
The Solano County Library offers games for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Playstation 5 and Xbox One consoles, according to a list of titles on the library’s website.
Games are clearly marked with their Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) classification, which ranges from “Everyone” to “Mature.”
Popular titles available at the Solano County Library include:
Bioshock: The Collection (Nintendo Switch)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (PS4)
Call of Duty: Vanguard (PS5)
Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, XBox One)
Gran Turismo 7 (PS4, PS5)
Madden NFL 22 (XBox One)
Red Dead Redemption II (PS4)
Rocket League (Nintendo Switch, PS4)
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order (PS4, XBox One)
The full list of video game titles available to check out can be viewed by clicking or tapping here.
In addition to the video games, the Solano County Library offers a number of other items in its special collection, including musical instruments, Chromebook laptops with Verizon or T-Mobile hotspots, state park passes and mental health kits.
The Solano County Library offers free library cards for anyone who lives in Solano County with a valid photo identification and proof of California residency. Patrons under the age of 18 can receive a free library card by having their parent or guardian assist them with enrollment.
The library does not have a late item return fee, but will block patrons from checking out new items if one is already overdue. The library charges patrons for the full cost of an item if it is reported lost, stolen or damaged beyond use.
